The Attukal Waterfalls gush through the hills to show their cascading might to all the onlookers. Also known as Attukad Waterfalls, the force with which the waters roll down the rocks make them appear white due to the froth. The rocks themselves are rather smooth due to the continuous erosion that shapes them. Since the cascades are at short gaps of altitude from one another, you can see the entire panorama of this natural phenomenon. The scene looks particularly arresting in the monsoon and winters when the vegetation turns the surrounding hills green. The region around the falls is quite popular with trekkers also as there are several beautiful trails one can hike on. Even while you gaze at the falls from across the road, you can smell the distinctive aroma of medicinal plants which grow on either side of Attukal Waterfalls. The area is ideal for picnicking with family and camping with friends as well.
